Tips on sail & canvas repair CD Rom
This is a "Power Point"
presentation that Jim and Connie Grant
prepared for the 2004 Good Old Boat
Winter Seminar. It is a true
multimedia show with video clips,
audio explanations, and detailed text
as well. The intent of the
presentation is to explain some of the
special techniques that the Grants
have developed to make do-it-yourself
sewing easy. The talk moves from
project to project covering just the
work needed to illustrate the point in
question. The first five slides on
sewing machine adjustment.
This CD runs nicely under browser control on a
computer. It will self start when used
with Intel (IBM compatible) machines
-- Apple users run the "tips.htm" file
from their browser to start the show.

Make your own cushions DVD
One of the most
frequent project questions we hear is
“How do I sew cushions and how
difficult is it to make a cushion?” If
you have ever considered making your
own cushions this video will answer
all of your questions. Sewing and
narration are done by Jim and Eric
Grant. This video is intended for
customers who are new to sewing as
well as those more experienced. Eric
starts by discussing cushion
terminology and then covers each stage
of cushion construction. Nothing is
left out and by the end of the video a
small cushion is complete. Even the
process of stuffing the cushion cover
with foam is shown.
The “Make Your Own Cushions DVD” is
divided into three primary topics:
Building a Cushion, Building a Cushion
with a Wedge Edge and Hints for Larger
Cushions. The first topic explores the
construction of a small cushion. The
techniques shown in this segment are
the foundation for building any
cushion. The second topic is similar
to the first but this cushion example
incorporates an angle on one side of
the foam. Such an angle is common for
boat v-berth cushions where the foam
must be tight to the sloped sides of
the boat’s hull. The remaining topic
primarily shows how to use match up
marks when building large cushions so
that their corners will line up
keeping the cushion plates (top and
bottom surfaces) from being skewed.
Video length:
1 hr. 38 mins.
This video is a compilation of the
streaming cushion videos that are on
our web site.
